What is the minimum age to play paintball in Newcastle?

At Delta Force Paintball Newcastle, the minimum age to participate in standard paintball is 12 years old. This follows the legal requirements set by the NSW Government for paintball activities.

Standard Paintball (Ages 12+): All players under the age of 16 must have a parental consent form (online registration) completed prior to arrival at the Newcastle centre.
Safety First: Our Newcastle centre uses .50 calibre low-impact paintballs. These are specifically designed to be lighter and more comfortable for younger players and beginners, ensuring a fun, high-action experience for the 12+ age group.
NEW: MiniBall (Ages 8–11): Starting February 1st, 2026, Delta Force Newcastle is proud to launch MiniBall! This specially designed version of the game allows children as young as 8 to join the action at Freemans Waterhole in a safe, highly supervised environment.

Newcastle Parent Tip: With the launch of MiniBall, you can now host the ultimate birthday party for kids aged 8–11. It’s the perfect way for younger siblings in the Hunter Valley to finally get off the sidelines and into the game!

BREAKING NEWS coming out of NSW Parliament with new paintball legislation being passed this week. Delta Force Paintball and other members of the NSW paintball community welcome this sensible reform and are excited about regulations developed specifically for paintball. Matching the public expectation, state law will now recognise paintball for what it is - a sport and a game. Paintball markers will no longer be classed as a Prohibited Firearm and rather a “Sporting Device”. The new regulations include a minimum age reduction to 12 years old. NSW aligning their regulations with other states and countries around the world is a big step forward for the sport. With minimum ages mostly around the 10-12 years old mark, the impeccable safety record in these markets was a key factor in developing the new regulations. Paintball industry representatives including Delta Force Paintball support the strict restrictions that accompany the changes. What is MiniBall?

MiniBall is a specially designed, low-impact version of paintball created specifically for the next generation of warriors (ages 8–11). It removes the "sting" while keeping all the strategy, teamwork, and adrenaline of the full-scale game.
- Spring-Powered Markers: We use lightweight, pump-action markers that don't require compressed air. They are easier for smaller hands to carry and operate.
- Unlimited Paintballs: No need to worry about the "ammo budget." Every MiniBall session includes unlimited paintballs so the fun never stops.
- Pro-Grade Safety: All recruits are outfitted with full-head goggle systems, bespoke body armour, and combat suits with padded neck protection.

Whether you’re planning an 8th, 9th, or 10th birthday party or a school holiday outing, MiniBall offers a structured, 2-hour session (typically 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm) that is fully supervised by our professional marshalling staff. Your group will play on movie-set game zones like the iconic Tomb Raider pyramid and the eerie Resident Evil graveyard.
